Joe Holland has been writing and performing original music for 50 years. Born in Detroit, shaped by New York City, and now back in Michigan - his biography is in the music whether he intends it or not.
His songs don't fit neatly into a single genre. What runs through all of them is something harder to label: raw emotion, hard truth, the kind of street-smart poignancy that only comes from having actually lived through something. These aren't songs written from the outside looking in.
Joe doesn't manufacture his material. The process isn't always on his schedule - his muse arrives on its own terms. But when it does, the result is the kind of song that stays with you. That's the only standard that matters to him.
